Laptop just stopped picking up any wireless networks

It was working fine until this morning, was working on it, and then all the sudden the internet connection dropped. Searched for the networks and all that it was showing was that there were no networks in the area.

I've been tinkering with it for hours, reset my modem and router, hit even the reset button on the router, changed the in router settings at 192.168.2.1 as well. Resetting that information didn't seem to help.

Oh, by the way, the laptop does have a wireless slide button, and yes, it is in the on position.

Without internet there's not alot you can do about drivers, but I did try and play around with them a little bit.

Anything I should check?

Can you connect with a wired connection to the machine?

Sure can. Ended up and calling Sony, but I noticed that the front buttons green light was going off part of the time even when switched to the on position. I'm assuming from the business travel it goes through, that the cord has been jarred loose inside, or the Wirecard has gone bad completely. Sony agreed with me, and I'm sending it on back to them after the box gets delivered. It's more likely that the wire card just burned out however, because my laptop has been becoming extremely hot lately. Maybe the heatsink is just giving out..

Reguardless, fixed sooner or later. Thanks.

Well, what I'd do while waiting for the box to arrive...
  1. Using canned air, thoroughly blow out the cooling fan vents both ways. Dust quickly accumulates in there and will cause overheating.
  2. Open up the little access door for the wireless NIC on the bottom and reseat the card.
