New House, Networking Question (Pics)
Hey All,
I have a question about a discovery in my new house. I found something interesting and would like your input. This is in the unfinished basment of my house. I did a few searchs for "Quick Network" and didn't find much online. My nieghbor says the houses are "Smart Wired" or something to that extent.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Open later inspection I found that all of my phone jacks are actually cat5e connecting the blue and white to the rj11 port and the rest are simply cut off. I am thinking that the part of the right is where they terminate? But my neighbor says this box has something to do with our alarm system... What I want to do is figure out if this the area where the phone terminates and simply put rj45's through the house where the phone jacks are (no land line) and get a modem from my cable and router inside of this box (after some major cable organization) Thanks! Mike |

Re: New House, Networking Question (Pics)
You appear to be wired for phone and TV, and there is alarm wiring there too. The reason the phone comes through that alarm panel is that the alarm will cut the phones off when it dials in a call the central station.
There is no networking wiring in evidence here, though that phone wiring could be rewired if they're all direct runs to each room.
