Synet PC Sharing Kit
Does anyone know anything about this company (Synet, Korean) or particular networking kit? I searched for Reviews and found relatively nothing. It's software to network computers using a USB cable. Looks simple enough but we're fairly network ignorant so thought I'd try to gather any advice available.
One main issue is which computer to make the Client and which to make the Server; I think the main difference is that only the Server will have the internet sharing software installed on it. We have an 'old' Dell with Win98, ATT dial-up internet (MSIE 6.0) & all our other software & files. Just bought a new Gateway with WinXP (Home) and just MS Works & a photo program. I do a lot of web stuff and 98 crashes a lot so I think WinXP would be better for that; don't know if I could access that through the network or would I have to physically use the computer with XP? If we make the XP the Server we'd have to reinstall or transfer the ATT Internet software, which we don't have instructions for. We mainly purchased the new computer for gaming, media (CD burning, digital photography), and the stability of XP. But would like to keep the computers 'His' & 'Hers' if possible - he games, I browse & do the photos, & we'll both do music. The other thing that makes me nervous is that the software assigns the Server computer an IP address, but don't those have to be unique? The address is listed in the manual so everyone using the program would have the same one...? Thanks in advance for any advice or input!! |
