Can access SKYPE, but no webpages
Hi Forum,
I'm currently in Cape Town, South Africa, and tried to access the Internet. I can connect to SKYPE, but not to MSN or browse the web. Every other computer here connects well and it seems my configurations are exactly the same. I don't seem to have any viruses, however, I do believe some thing could be blocking me from accessing webpages. I have tried to restore my computer to previous dates, checked winsock, flush my dns (ipconfig /flushdns), ran search & destroy (installed it after), and much more. I don't know what the problem could possibly be. I just know its strange that I can access SKYPE, but not view any web pages. Firefox, Google Chrome or IE works. I assume it could be port related, or some settings that I need to review. However, I really do not know. I can't ping outside sites. I'm connected to the network wirelessly. When I do connect to LAN, same thing, doesn't work. I'm currently on a SONY Vaio (VGN-TX770P) that's about two years old. Its running Windows XP. Laptop is in perfect condition and was working recently as December 20th or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Happy New Years, -Dave |

Re: Can access SKYPE, but no webpages
I'm guessing that it's a firewall, that would be my top suspect.
