not prompted for WPA security key
I have my router security set to WPA Personal. On my laptop when I select my network from available wireless networks and hit connect, I am not prompted for security key. If I highlight the network and use change advance settings, the network shows up as network authentication open and data encryption WEP. If I change it to the correct settings it still will not connect. I'm using Win XP Pro SP3. I have another laptop and a desktop with wireless adapter that both connect just fine. Any suggestions?

Re: not prompted for WPA security key
You need to first remove all the stored wireless profiles for that connection, then do a search for new networks, it should ask for the key at that point.

Re: not prompted for WPA security key
I went off on a search for how to remove stored wireless profiles and I still am not sure how to do that. Can you explain?
Thanks Burt more info: if I remove my network "Allan" from the preferred networks, then go back and select it again from the available networks and hit connect, I get a "Validating identity" instead of "connected". I also get a bubble saying Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you on to the network Allan. I believe this is because the doesn't recognize it as a WPA-secured network.??? Re: not prompted for WPA security key
Actually, that's because of another incorrect setting.
See graphic below.
