Evil XP PRO Networking

Okay guys I really need help with this one. I have a desktop computer and a laptop. I recently purchased an external hardrive which i shared on the network so my laptop can access the music on my external hardrive too. Well everything was fine until 2 weeks ago when it suddenly stopped working. When i try to access any of the shared partitions i get this message "you might not have permission to use this network resource...." Now the weird thing is i cant even access it from my own desktop through the network, it just gives me the same message, however i am able to access from both computer the shared documents folder on my main internal hardrive, yet none of the drives on the external hardrive are giving me permission to access them through the network. The drives show up fine, but i am unable to access them wihtout that message. Ive been at this for hours and changed permissions everything but cant find the solution. If any of you can offer me any help Id really really appreciate it i cant take much more of this.

If its a problem with my user name netbios etc why is my shared docs folder work perfectly??

Both computers are running xp pro sp2

When logic fails its worth a long shot.
Try removing the shares and setting the shares again.
Worked for me once.

Try Taking Ownership of the drive.
