HELP Needed! Internet sharing problem

Hi All! Here is my Situation: I have a purely WIRED Billion Modem/Router (Bipac 5102s) with a Hub connected to connect 2 PCs in the living room. I need to share the internet connection between one of the PCs and my laptop in my room WIRELESSLY. I can't replace my Router for the time being (dad isn't allowing it).

So I bought a Netgear USB wireless network Adapter and hooked it up with one of the PCs (running Windows XP SP2) and created an Ad hoc connection between that PC and my laptop (running Windows Vista) and I initiated the ICS wizard to share the connection between the adhoc and the wired LAN internet connection with no success. I looked things up in other forums and it said I need to deactivate the DHCP but I can't do that either. So I tried to bridge the WIRED connection and Wireless connections with no success Either.

Anyone got any tips or ideas to connect my wired PC (using windows XP SP2 and has a Netgear Wireless Network adapter) to my Laptop using Windows Vista w/o shutting down my DHCP or help me with bridging the connection maybe I did something wrong (I clicked both connection wired and wireless and bridged them but still laptop shows no net). Thanks in advance

What you might need to do is go into the configuration of the router and check the settings in there. It may be turned off or have security enabled. To do this do you see two little computers in the right hand side down the bottom of your screen. If not go to the control panel find the networking and on the properties click the box that says show the icon in the notification area when connected. Double click on the computers and on the support tab you should see DHCP it will say the ip of your computer on the network as well as the gateway ip. It will be something like 10.0.0.12 etc. Type that ip address as it is in the internet explorer address bar (Where you would type an internet address). All of this is done on the computer that has access to the internet and is working. When you type the ip address of the gateway. It should allow you to log into the router. You need to log into the admin of the rounter. By default it is usually admin for username and admin for password. Go through the settings and see what the 128 key is and type that in when you set up the wireless connection. THis might be the problem. There are other settings you will see there that also must be setup on the laptop. When you finish you might want to change the password of the router to something you will remember. Good luck. Re: HELP Needed! Internet sharing problem

I think you misunderstood me. The router is WIRED not wireless I need to used the Wireless adapter to convert the Ad hoc signal between the XP based PC with the Vista based laptop w/o disabling DHCP (won't be allowed to do that) and maintaining the router connection. I tried bridging with no luck.

You already asked this on another board. We won't assist in bypassing parental restrictions here either.
