SMTP to Comcast (moved to Networking Support)
I've got to admit I'm not sure this belongs here, however.
I've got a DNS-323, I'm trying to connect it to send out emails about when it over heats and so fourth like that. The emails aren't seeming to get through comcast's servers. SMTP.COMCAST.NET. THe NAS says its sent the file and I guess it got an OK from the server but nothing gets through. When I telnet into the smtp server to try one myself I got an ok also however the email comes through without a sender and without any data even though there was data, and a sender put into the message. Any suggestions? Also according to comcast there is suppose to be authentication however I'm doing this with none, and with I try the AUTH LOGIN my user name and password aren't accepted, tried both regular text and base 64. |

Re: SMTP to Comcast (moved to Networking Support)
I have that same NAS, and mine works fine to send the emails. I couldn't get Verizon to send them properly, so I configured it for another server. I'd consider trying something like Gmail for sending the reports.

Re: SMTP to Comcast (moved to Networking Support)
I've gone ahead and tried that. It requires Secure TLS which the DNS-323 doesn't support. Any other suggestions?

Re: SMTP to Comcast (moved to Networking Support)
I'm using an account that doesn't require Secure TLS, that may be the issue with Comcast as well. I know that Verizon didn't work for me.
Here's some free POP email accounts, several include ads. However, since you only want to send... ![]() http://lavabit.com/ http://www.safe-mail.net/ http://mail-us.gmx.com/ http://www.hotpop.com/accountlevels.jsp
