My antenna dilemma…
After an enormous amount of reading I am no further ahead, so I am asking for suggestions or advice from you experts, please (please, please). Here is a list of things I already have: Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network Adapter Hawking 2.4GHz Hi-Gain 15dBi Corner Antenna (has about 5’ of ‘mini-co-ax’, attaches to D-Link AP) D-Link Access Point DWL-2100AP (has numerous modes, I don’t know which one would work best) Satellite Dishes (2 DirecTV, 1 Dish Network) Co-ax (75ohm only) (is this useless?) Lots of canned food (in case I am hungry or to make a cantenna) Soldering Iron and various connectors Headache (size XXL) The area I live in is very hilly with no clear LOS to neighbors willing to share internet service. The main obstruction is trees. MediaCom (ISP) oversold service here and new service hasn‘t been available since mid-2006. I am # 255 on a waiting list of approx. 400 people. Help will be very appreciated as it is now way too cold out to drive up the street and use the internet in the car. Thanks, Jessica |

Re: WiFi Antenna Options Question
What kind of broadband service is available in your area? If you have DirectTV or Dish Network, they also have broadband service.

Re: WiFi Antenna Options Question
The only other broadband available is Hughsnet and at $500 in up-front costs I won't be ordering any time soon.
My small 'student budget' is more cantenna oriented! :) Can you suggest a way I can configure the hardware I do have or an antenna I could build? I was looking at Trevor Marshall's Biquad/Primestar design. I wonder if this would be what I need. |

Re: WiFi Antenna Options Question
Again, I have no idea where you think the signal is coming from or what kind of signal it is.
