wireless disconnects after 5 secs

I started college this year and my laptop works fine there, on there wireless network. But i come back to my house and i can get connection to my wireless but as soon as my laptop goes to sleep or shutdown. when i try to reconnect it connects for 5 secs then disconnects and about every minute or so it connects then disconnects all by its self. i have a Linksys WRT54G.
any ideas on what is causing it?

Have you removed all the stored wireless profiles and tried searching for and connecting to your network? Have you made SURE that you don't have a 3rd party wireless client and WZC running at the same time?
