I've had this laptop for about half a year now, and everything worked fine up until a couple days ago. I have no idea if this is related or not, but I was uninstalling Norton360 from my computer before it happened. The uninstall froze and I had to restart my computer before it fully completed the uninstall. Before then, I had no issues with connectivity.
Ever since then, my laptop will detect available networks just fine, but when it connects I only get a "Local Only" connection. It does this for every network. The problem has to be with the laptop because other laptops connect to networks just fine, and my laptop does this everywhere I go and with any network. The same thing happens even when I use an ethernet cable. Again, it used to work just fine a few days ago, I just started having problems when I restarted my comp after the norton360 uninstall was interrupted. I did not change anything else in between. I tried searching multiple forums to see if I could find a fix, and tried a few things people posted, but got no luck. I tried disabling my ipv6 but still got the same problem. Also I tried disabling and enabling my network adapters. I did a system restore to a date before the failed Norton360 uninstall as well, but that did not work either. I'm running Vista. I don't know if this is any help, but when I tried "ipconfig/renew wireless*" I got the error message: "An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Network Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out." I'd appreciate any help from you guys... Thanks in advance. Re: Cannot access net. searched multiple forums, but no avail
There is a chance that the Norton 360 did not uninstall correctly.
Get the norton removal tool at: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...hm&lg=en&ct=us |

Thanks for the link, as of right now it seems like it's working correctly... I can't believe I didn't think of that....
