Bandwidth is really low
yesterday my internet became really slow. i was trying to play COD WAW on PS3 with a wireless connection like i always do and i had one bar whcih was red. lag was too bad to play.
i have a desktop computer with vista32bit that i built myself (gaming machine) -comcast internet -linksys 300n wireless router using WEP -xbox 360 hooked up to my pc monitor with wired connection -ps3 hooked up in my front room with wireless connection -macbook on wireless connection i did not change any settings on my router. i tried power cycling the the modem and router and that did not fix the problem. i have the basic internet package from comcast, iv done spped test on dsl reports and speedtest.net. my bandwidth is fluctuating up and down. one test will be normal speed and then next time it will be .5Mb/s down and even less for the up. of course when i call comcast they say that it looks everything is fine on there end. i then run the ethernet cable fromt the modem to the pc to bypass my router and the speed test results are the same. does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? im dieing withough my COD. iv tried multiple games and they are all lagging. anyother info you guys need please let me know. this has been going on for about 48hours. comcast never told me that they were doing maintanence. |

Re: Bandwidth is really low
Please make a direct connection to the modem and try the following test.
Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here. The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like: If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different! and your IP will be disguised. Copy/paste that link here. Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.
