router cuts out frequently.

i've got a linksys router BEFW11s4 Wireless B router, and the think cuts out probably atleast 3 times a day, probably more if i was around to reset it more often....
I've got 1 wirless connection running on it, and 1 landline... and every now and then the connection stops, but after a quick pull of the power and back, it promptly reconnects (10 seconds)....
i've just dealt with the problem, but it's just starting to get very annoying, as every time i get home, it needs to be reset... any ideas, on the problem??....

Re: router cuts out frequently.

Some things you can try here.
  1. For wireless connections, change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
  2. For wireless connections, try moving either the wireless router/AP or the wireless computer. Even a couple of feet will sometimes make a big difference.
  3. Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
  4. Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.

Re: router cuts out frequently.

The wireless connection is not the connection that has the issues, it's all the connections.... me personally, i've got my desktop connected via cable, and when the router gives punks out, it does so for all out going connections from the router.... the cable modem actually stop sending/receiving.... i've just reset it, i guess i'll need time to see if that helped anything..
And firmware is up to date...
on the chance it doesn't, any other ideas?

Re: router cuts out frequently.

The last two suggestions affect all connections, those would be the ones I'd try first.

Re: router cuts out frequently.

If a direct connection to the modem is reliable, I'd be considering a replacement router.

Re: router cuts out frequently.

ya, eh?? cause when the router gives out, wireless and hard connection go.... i'd really like to throw it off my balcony..... a direct connection does work fine, so i'll try to a new router....
