No Wireless Internet Connection after BIOS update?
Hi,
I've just updated the BIOS on my Eee PC 901 (Windows XP) and when I restarted it I found I couldn't connect to my wireless internet anymore. Under Network connections the only available connection is the LAN connection, and I can't figure out how to view the available wireless connections. Wireless Zero Configuration is turned on, and the networking device is Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PC1-E Ethernet Controller - should I be seeing another device? I'm guessing this is somehow because of the update since it was working fine previously, so is there some way I can roll it back or, even better, fix this thing? I'm sure I've forgotten to include some sort of important iinformation, but please let me know if you have any ideas? This is driving me nuts! |

Re: No Wireless Internet Connection after BIOS update?
i think you might need to find an update for wireless adapter card. I think its not working becuase the BIOS version is not compatiable with your network adapter. Try the driver update, thats all i can say.
Any1 have other ideas? |

Re: No Wireless Internet Connection after BIOS update?
Hey,
Thanks for the advice, but no dice. Updated the driver and still no wireless internet is appearing anywhere, even when I try to create a new connection. Very frustrating, don't understand how it can't actually recognise there is no wireless anywhere. Is this a problem with the Atheros device or something else? I even tried reinstalling the previous BIOS but that hasn't done anything. If anybody has any other suggestions they'd be very welcome! |

Re: No Wireless Internet Connection after BIOS update?
Did you reset the BIOS to factory defaults? If that fails, I'd consider talking to the manufacturer.

Re: No Wireless Internet Connection after BIOS update?
Found the problem
This just happened to my 1000H. After updating the BIOS, the wireless stopped working as you said and the computer didn't even recognise the wireless adapter. For some reason it had been turned off in BIOS. Open bios, (F1 after updating) and there is a sub menu somewhere for onboard utilities or something along the lies of that, go down to wireless and enable it, for some reason the onboard video camera was off aswell. hope this helps others. |
