How Can I connect two wireless routers?
I have a wireless belkin 54g router, with two computers running Win Xp, a NTL cable 750k broadband modem and an Xbox connected to it (I play my xbox online via Xbox Live
).My friend a few doors down has a wireless Netgear 11b router, with two computers running Win Xp, a NTL cable 750k broadband modem and an Xbox connected. How could I connect these two wireless routers up so I could transfer Movies and large files from his pc to mine, and connect a lan between the xboxs so I could play against him? I have read sites and searched for a solution, but all I could get is turn one router into an Access Point (bypassing its firewall and NAT, turning it into a wireless switch/hub, which is useless as we both have internet connections which we dont wish to share with each other). The wireless channels are also the same(13). I have also used wireless scanners, but most software tools require a wireless PCI card to search for wireless Access Points. Any help, suggestions are welcome, please help me! Enzo enzom9@gmail.com/enzo_m135@hotmail.com-Ill be on MSN most hours. |

The short answer is you can't connect those two routers wirelessly. Most routers, including yours, operate only in gateway mode, and won't talk to each other wirelessly.
If you really want to join the networks, you need more hardware, at least one WAP, and a couple of directional antennas.

No, I'm talking about an external antenna, Here's D-Link Antennas, and here's a site with lots of them, 2.4ghz Antennas.
