[SOLVED] Connection Interrupted
Recently I've received an error message with both firefox and IE on my home desktop, stating the following:
Quote:
I've done the following steps: - ran virus, spyware and malware checks with nothing being found. I'm currently running my laptop off of the same router and modem, without any issue. - The wireless adapter on the desktop will connect to the router and network without any issue and have the ability to stream media to my xbox 360, - checked the proxy's for both firefox and IE and both are turned off. - removed all cookies - Ran HijackThis, and did not note anything out of the ordinary (searched most of the process through a tutorial found) I can't find anyone else on the net or forums with a similar problem. Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: Connection Interrupted
Try booting in safe mode with networking using a wired connection and see if you can access the other sites.

Re: Connection Interrupted
It means you have a security application that is interfering with the connections. Disable ALL firewall applications and other "Internet security" applications and see if that helps. If so, you need to configure those applications properly.

Re: Connection Interrupted
I turned everything off and nothing happend. So I though I would take it step further and I uninstalled all virus, and spyware scanners. It turns out the problem was being caused by AVG 8 that I had installed a few months ago.
I don't know how it caused the problem, but uninstalling it solved the issue. Thanks John |

Re: [SOLVED] Connection Interrupted
AVG8 has a real time scanner now. I think probably what happened is either a setting was changed or somehow an update corrupted the AVG config.
I would assume if you do a fresh install it should work without issues. I run AVG8 on all my machines and have had not issues. I recall recently (past few months) there was a DNS issue that was resolved by not using a fixed port number, which did cause a lot of security programs problems. Most of the software vendors had updates that resolved these issues. JamesO |
