Vista will not network with XP, or connect to the net.
Hello,
I use a vista 32-bit, and it was recently having crashes and such, and I eventually got frustrated and wiped it. Doing so, after i installed everything, it will not connect to the network. Which is through a WinXp on a linksys Wireless-G 2.4 GHz broadbrand router which is fed by a terayon Shaw Cable thing. My XP works perfectly fine on the network with my third computer (mac ibook 4), and works flawlessly online. BUt my Vista computer doesn't recognize any network, doesn't recognize any internet. My Xp and my Vista are both fed into the Router, and the laptop works off the wireless. Before i did the wipe, the internet was working, and the network worked (not as well as i'd like it to). All-in-all, a little help would be appreciated on what to do to get my Vista on both the network, and the Net. ps, when i look for a network to attach to, it says "This computer does not have a network adapter installed and configured", i appologize if this is some newbie question, but i don't know too much about this sorta stuff. |

Re: Vista will not network with XP, or connect to the net.
I suspect when you "wiped it" and reinstalled, you didn't install the motherboard chipset drivers and the network drivers. That's the first step.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc Please respond to all the following steps.
