Wireless ethernet problem

Hello, I registered here because I have an issue and haven't been able to resolve it. Hopefully one of the members here can help.

Basically, my wireless ethernet (D-Link Air) was and has been working fine for well over a year, but I recently installed AVG 8.0 Free Edition, and since then it has stopped working. I uninstalled AVG 8.0 already, so if it was a certain file it scanned, I can't get it back. I believe that I'm not the only person that had this happen.

The problem is that I can connect to my other computer, or a friend's laptop/computer for LANing, but I'm unable to do anything internet-wise, or play games, etc. In the details of the connection, everything looks normal except that the WINS Server appears blank. I have tried to repair this, I've reinstalled my wireless program and the driver, and I've reinstalled Windows twice (even switching from Windows XP Home to Windows XP Professional). I am out of ideas and have had no luck finding any help by using search engines and looking for someone with a similar issue.

May I have some suggestions, a program/file that fixes the problem, or at least some advice please? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Wireless ethernet problem

I do not thing AVG had anything to do with the problem??

You mentioned that you have played with drivers and reinstalled Windows 2 times, so it clearly sounds like a hardware problem to me.

More info would be helpful.

What type of machine, laptop or desktop? Make & Model?
What type of wireless card? Make & Model?
