Game - cannot find server
I like to trade weapons and other spoils between characters in Diablo 2 expansion game. I use the multiplayer TCP/IP option on 2 computers networked together. I'm using a Siemens Speedstream 6520 router/modem. I tried using each computer as a host and join game in all combinations I could think of.
I would prefer the host to be at 192.xxx.xxx.6 and the other computer is at 8. I checked and the protocol for TCP/IP is enabled on both computers. Both systems are using windows xp. I also told the firewall to allow diablo. I don't know what to try next! Any ideas? Thanks Abusknott ( AKA George) |

Re: Game - cannot find server
You can create a private game on battle.net, with a password, and trade items that way. Also, I am pretty sure you need two separate CD keys for Diablo II to mule items like you describe, but I could be wrong on that. Or, if you feel like hacking a bit, use ATMA. http://atma.diabloii.net/.

Re: Game - cannot find server
I used to have it working about 3 years ago on different computers and a different router too. I cannot remember if I used a different cd or not. My computer was running Daemon virtual drive back then. Now I had to get another version because my cd quit working so they have different keys. I downloaded ATMA. There is a learning curve since it has no help and only a series of hints. Certain characters could not trade items with others till I opened and closed each character in diablo.
I think the problem with the network is a software or firewall problem. An error message closing some file brings up the "end now" box during computer shut down. I didn't write it down then and it hasn't happened again yet. I will post a followup when it does. Thanks George |
