Need NIC?

Hi,

Well, I've tried and tried, but I just can't figure out the problem with this thing. I have a friends dell latitude d600 that will not connect to the internet because the cable is unplugged altho it's not. I've replaced the cable and drivers for the card and tried to look for other things to do but I'm not that knowledgeble about Internet things. Do you think that it's the card that's broken? It's a Broadcom 570x gigabit intergrated controller and the system is win xp sp2.
Help!!

Well, if it's not the drivers and not the cable or port on the router, you're kinda' left with the NIC.

Just for kicks, let's try resetting the stack, that will sometimes fix this if it's stack corruption.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2/SP3.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands.

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.
