Problem setting up wake-on-wan
I want to set up wake-on-wan on my home pc, but having problems! ok here is what I have done:
-enabled in bios (intel DG33TL motherboard) "Wake on LAN from S5" -In device manager in integrated LAN card properties checked "Allow the computer to turn off device to save power" and "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" well this is the part i don't get: I can check "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" only if "Allow the computer to turn off device to save power" is checked!!! I mean ***? This does not make sense! turn off device tu save power and then bring out of standby...maybe someone can enlighten me about this? - in router (ASUS WL520L) set up DHCP and fixed IP for my PC - forwarded one port to my PC (for example 7000) Basicly I think that's it! Now using this tool http://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/wake-on-lan-gui.aspx typed in my PC's MAC address and global IP and port 7000 which I forwarded to my PC send option: internet and subnet mask 255.255.255.255 cuz if using 255.255.255.0 it send magic packet to wrong IP... NOTHING! COMPUTER DOESN'T WAKE UP! :( Maybe i missed something? any help? Last edited by ralfs_k; 10-07-2008 at 01:44 AM. |
