One computer does not connect to the internet
I have added some of my details to two other threads, but have been looking at this some more today, as I am totally at a loss.
I have two computers and a VOIP phone system through my router. One computer, and the VOIP work OK, but the other computer will not access the internet, although I get local access between computers. Looking at the thread at http://www.techsupportforum.com/networking-forum/networking-support/294607-have-signal-ip-addy-etc-but-no-internet.html I see that their problem machine has a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC. My problem machine has a Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC Is it a co-incedence ? My non working machine has this ipconfig report: Quote:

I have tried to restore IE advanced settings, but that hasn't helped. I also tried to restore the system back a few days, but somehow that stuffed right up, and I needed to reactivate MS Windows XP (by phone) as it somehow thought the hardware had changed. I did upgrade the memory 6 months ago. from 512mb to 1286?mb

Re: One computer does not connect to the internet
Thanks for your reply.
I have just done this, and the report I got is: Quote:
However, going to http://68.180.206.184 I do get to the yahoo error page At least I now know that I do have the internet connection, but something isn't converting the words I type to the numbers that the internet needs. I am learning, but not enough yet ;)

Re: One computer does not connect to the internet
I checked on the location of those two files NAPMONTR.DLL and DOT3CFG.DLL and they are both in C:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386 and C:\windows\softwaredistribution\downloads\dd9....etc
I did notice the creation date of the files are 30/08/2008 but the modified date is shown as 14/04/2008. On the good machine, these two files are only found in one location C:\windows\softwaredistribution\downloads\dd9....etc with creation date 26/08/2008 and modified date 14/04/2008
