interchange ip adres on router
internet connection is via a linksys router with 2 pc connection and 1 laptop wireless connection (all win xp). All have different ip-adresses, something like:
pc A has: 192.681.1.100 and pc B has: 192.681.101. Is it possible to switch these ip adresses? for example, pc A would have 192.681.1.101 and pc B would have 192.681.1.100 |

Re: interchange ip adres on router
If you want the machines to have specific IP addresses, I suggest you simply manually assign the IP addresses.

Re: interchange ip adres on router
Yep, just configure the router to eliminate those addresses from the DHCP address pool and manually assign them to the machines.

Re: interchange ip adres on router
Ok, i'd prefer to keep it set on dynamically. i know that dynamic ip-adresses are automatically assigned, but i'd like to know exactly when the ip-adresses are assigned to each pc (for example, when the router is turned on or, when the internet drivers have been installed)

Re: interchange ip adres on router
The IP address is assigned the first time that computer accesses that router. It will probably stay the same for ever unless you change something in the network.
If you want specific IPs you need to set them manually, as johnwill said. |

Re: interchange ip adres on router
If you have a router that allows DHCP reservations, you can still use dynamic IP addresses. Last time I looked, many of the Linksys models didn't do that, though my D-Link and ZyXEL routers offer the capability.
Failing that, you can either load some 3rd party firmware like DD-WRT which offers the reservation capability, or use the static addresses I previously recommended.
