First entry-will try to give complete info: Basic problem is that desktop("downstairs") shows wireless connections are working but am unable to connect to internet using either IE7 or Mozilla Firefox. To check connections on this computer am able to ping the ISP, the up-office computer and laptop. Am also able to ping Yahoo.com and others.
Main computer("up-office") is connected to internet through Fios cable w/Actiontec M1424-WR router. It's located on 2nd floor and allows wireless connection to a laptop built in wireless adapter with no problem. OS is XP Media Center Edition SP 3, 2.79GHz, 2.00 GB Ram. A second desktop(downstairs) on 1st floor OS is XP Pro, SP2,1.6 GHz, 576mb Ram. The wireless adapter on this computer is AirLink 101 300N in the PCI slot. I probably am giving a lot of excess info for which I apologize and would welcome any thoughts on this problem. |

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2/SP3.
Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt: In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands: Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands. Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog Reboot the machine.
