Slow Internet in Browsers
I am really lost, been trying to fix this problem for weeks.
Whenever i open a page in Firefox, IE7 or any other browser its 90% of the time just as slow or even more slower like a 56k modem. Sometimes it works normal but that is rarely and doesn't last for long Google can take more then 15 seconds to load one time it even took over 1 minute ![]() The strange thing is i can download normally and also play online games without lag. If i go to a speedtest site from my country (www.speedtest.nl) it gives a good upload and download (500 down/100 up). I'm connected to a router but other computers connected to the same router can browse pages at a fast speed. Here are things i tried to do to fix it:
Here are my system specs if its of any use since net should even work fine at a slow computer :P OS: Windows XP SP2 (had problems with SP3) HDD: SAMSUNG SATAII 750GB CPU: Intel Dual Core 2x3.000Mhz GFX: FOXCONN GeForce 8800GT MOBO: P5K Premium WiFi (don't use the WiFi though) Hope someone can help me here cause i really don't know what to do anymore and when you use the web a lot its really frustrating. Re: Slow Internet in Browsers
It's when i have it running and also when i don't.
I also limited uploads to 10kb/sec (for my p2p programs only) using net limiter so i can keep downloading while i am active at my computer. |

Re: Slow Internet in Browsers
Hmm this is strange, i just checked how my connection was in safe mode and it is perfect.
Less then 1 second to open a page, unless the page is slow itself of course. Any way how i can find out which software is conflicting without having to reinstall everything? |

Re: Slow Internet in Browsers
First off, the P2P is the top suspect, I'd uninstall that and see if that changes the symptoms. Also, kill off Net Limiter, since that could cause the very symptom you describe.
If that doesn't work, then I'd start disabling groups of applications using MSCONFIG and rebooting. When it fixes it, you can add them back slowly until you find the offending application or service. Note that you have to reboot each time you change the MSCONFIG settings for them to take effect.
