"Acquiring Network Address"

My computer has been stuck on this connection mode for like HOURS literally...And no progress so far.

Everything is connected, my home PC is just not going from "acquiring network address" to being "connected"

Currently I'm on my laptop and using the same ethernet cable, it is connecting fine to my laptop.

While checking some other websites, and checking my ipconfig this is what I got:

Windows IP Configuration

Host name: your-irnfg39627
Primary Dns Suffix:
Node Type: Broadcast
IP Routing Enabled: No
WINS Proxy Enable: No

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix: domain_not_set.invalid
Description: Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC
Physical Address: 00-40-2B-41-08-EA
Dhcp Enabled: yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled: yes
IP Address: 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask: 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway:
DHCP Server: 192.168.0.1
DNS Servers: 192.168.0.1
192.168.0.1

I had to type the above info all out. But that's what I got. I don't know how to fix this nor am I any good at PC/tech problems.

Any helps at all will be appreciated.

~ Beautiful-Love

EDIT: I can not even access 192.168.0.1 using IE since it's still on the acquiring netword address...

Re: "Acquiring Network Address"

unplug your modem power cable and replug it after at least 2 minutes, make sure your laptop's ethernet cable is connected straight to your modem, not via router.

Re: "Acquiring Network Address"

Since you didn't tell us what version of Windows you run, I'm going to assume XP.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2/SP3.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands.

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.
