Am I Current?
Hey guys. This may be a silly question but I've gotta ask.
I've been having the same equipment for quite some years now and I recently upgraded 3 of my PIII computers. It had me thinking of what else am I behind on. I'm currently running a Linksys WRT54G wireless router which I only use the wireless with my wife's work laptop sometimes. Anyways I am upgraded to the SBC Elite DSL from the Pro series and am wondering if my router is outdated in any way as in slowing down my connections any? Just wondering if I'm outdated and if there's something faster that I should be using for a router? |

Re: Am I Current?
Its a wireless g router, so as far as I know, you are not behind yet. Wireless n (early draft?) routers are available and are much faster, but I don't think most people have switched to that. Most new laptops don't support natively wireless n I think.

Re: Am I Current?
Correct it is a G router. As you were saying with the N type. Does that speed only apply to the wireless part? My entire network in the home consists of wired computers. My wife's church laptop is the only wireless unit which is really only for book keeping and such. My HP laptop's monitor went out but I would always just plug it into a cable that I had run under the couch when I went online with it cause it seemed to be faster.
My main focus is on the wired connection throughout the house if my speed is limited from my old G router? |
