[SOLVED] Problems with laptop NIC

I have a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC.

It didn't seem to be working so I decided to see if there was an updated driver, found one and tried to install it. Then I was getting the yellow triangle beside in in Device Manager.

Tried again, tried rolling back the device driver, tried unistalling it and let Windows detect it, but everytime it tries to install a driver this is the result:

In Device Manager here is the General tab for it:

And the Driver tab:

Any suggestions or does this look like a hardware problem?

Re: Problems with laptop NIC

If this is a PCI NIC, try moving it to a different slot. If it's an on-board unit, did you get all the drivers from the motherboard manufacturer?

Re: Problems with laptop NIC

Its in a laptop so I assume I don't have other slots to move it to.

I did use drivers from the laptop manufacturer, but possibly not on the first pass.

Re: Problems with laptop NIC

You need to load the chipset drivers as well as the network drivers.

Re: Problems with laptop NIC

I was referred to a set of drivers that seem to have done the trick (so they likely included the chipset drivers too).

Thanks for your help.
