Networking in XP Help?

Alright, well, I've having some trouble connecting my computer together through a network, My connection goes Wall-to-Modem-to-Router-to- My Parents computer in their room and another cable from Router-to-My computer in my room across the hall from theirs. And I have hooked them up and no matter how hard I try, I can't get access to their files from my computer, or to their printer. I've tried to connect through the Networking wizard XP gave me but that's failed. What am I doing wrong???

Maybe your parents don't want you accessing their files. Talk to them about it first.
