Networking/File Sharing/Gaming issues
Heres the 1st problem, I've set up a home network between two XP computers. Everything is working fine in the sense that I can access the files on computer A from computer B but computer A is prompted to enter a username and password before it is allowed to access files from computer B despite the fact that computer B has all the files in the my network places listed as "shared"
Problem 2: I've tried setting up a lan game between both computers on Starcraft, no go, they don't recognise each other's games |

Re: Networking/File Sharing/Gaming issues
First problem: Create a user account on the computer with the shared files that matches the name/password that is used to login to the client (connecting) machine.
Second problem: This one is a bit more difficult, since I don't know anything about the game or it's requirements.

Re: Networking/File Sharing/Gaming issues
I see, but that doesn't explain why I can access the files in one direction but not the other. If I do create a user profile on client computer, won't it be the same issue, ie requiring the individual on that computer to login and use my password?

Re: Networking/File Sharing/Gaming issues
Nope, the account just has to be there, you don't have to actually use it on the machine with the shared files.
Try it, it only takes a minute to create an account.

Re: Networking/File Sharing/Gaming issues
That would be correct, since they're logging in with different user credentials.
![]() Try configuring the "server" for simple sharing.
