Settingup a Home Network

I have a Printer (HP Photosmart 8450) PC, two laptop, an external hard drive, and a playstation 3. The router has an inbuilt modem from Time Warner and the PS3 is directly connected to the router. Is it possible to do the following and how?

Share the printer for all the PC and laptops (The PC has Windows Vista and Laptops are XP...The PC and Laptops are connected to the Router wirelessly)
Share files and folders so I don't have to save the same file on all computers. Maybe use the hard drive as a backup where I can store all my files than on any of the PCs. That way I have a central location for all files. Like a server.
