wireless problems compaq presario v 6000

On my Compaq Pressario V6000 the wirless light is permantly on orange and I can no longer connect wirelessly to the internet. I'm using a netgear broadband modem from Sky at my main PC and the wirless signal light is on that. Internet was working on V6000 but after last time I connected I have not been able to go online. the icon on task bar indicating internet connection has a red cross through it. anyone help me putting this right?

Try right clicking on that icon and selecting "Enable". Also, there is either a switch on the side of the laptop, or a function key sequence that disables/enables the wireless, did you try that?
