Network resilience
Trying to build some form of resilience into our network.
6 Network cabinets Cabinet A – Ethernet Backbone, CISCO 3508, and links to other 5 cabinets and a 3524 Cabinet B – TokenRing backbone and links to other 5 cabinets and a CSICO 3524 Cabinet C – CISCO 3524, two fibre modules, one populated Cabinet D – CISCO 3524, two fibre modules, one populated Cabinet E – CISCO 3524, two fibre modules, one populated Cabinet F – CISCO 3524, two fibre modules, one populated Looking to replace the TokenRing backbone end switch in Cabinet B with a second 3508 and then use the TR termination in each cabinet to connect to the existing 3524s in each cabinet, effectively meaning each 3524 is linked to both 3508s so that in the event of a 3508 failing the network will stay operational. Is this a viable plan? Is it really as simple as adding a 3508 into cabinet B and then adding the appropriate modules and connections to the 3524s? |

Re: Network resilience
Not sure exactly. The only comment I have at the moment though, is will this create any loops? If yes then as the article bellow states, you will need to run STP to avoid problems.
