Wireless Connection Not Found
OK this started after calling Time Warner Cable out not being able to connect to the internet. Now both my laptop and another computer in the house, both running windows vista are having the same problem. The wireless connection is no longer there. I am not really sure how this happened or why it happened. It is almost like somebody logged onto our network and installed a virus that erased our wireless connection on both of the computers. Both work fine if connected directly to the cable modem. And it is not the wireless card cause my laptop will not work at starbucks either. Do i need to reinstall Vista or is there another way??

Hi,
1:Let me know whether your laptop has an inbuilt wireless card in it or did you plug in any wireless adapter externally... 2:Click on start--->>>Control panel--->>>Network and sharing centre 3:to the left of the screen you will see, "manage network connections" Click on it... 4:Check whether you see "wireless connection icon or not" 5:If yes try to connect it to wireless network... 6:Or else, Click on start--->>>go to Start Search--->>>type services.msc 7:in the window which pops up, scroll down to WLAN configuration, right click on it and click on start or restart... 8:Restart the computer and check for wireless connection icon... |

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.
Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Make and exact model of the broadband modem. Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit). Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device. Connection type, wired or wireless. If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2) Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc. The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc. Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.
On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this: Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt: Type the following commands: PING 206.190.60.37 PING yahoo.com NBTSTAT -n IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
