Port Forwarding Issue

We use a Telus Desktop Backup software that requires port 16384 to be opened.

I am using a D-Link DI-524 router with adsl internet on windows 2003 server edition.

I put the port info into the advanced/virtual server section, hit apply and it all looks fine. When I do a port scan it does not show as open and the program cannot find the network. Is there another firewall that I need to bypass? I turned off the windows firewall and anything that could cause a block like anti virus etc.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Port Forwarding Issue

I'm guessing that you have a modem that's really a router, that would be the most likely suspect.

What's the make/model of the modem?

Re: Port Forwarding Issue

Its a datalink as well but its from the internet provider, its not a router. The port forwarding and firewall settings for the DI-524 are ridiculous compared to Linksys or Netgear.

Re: Port Forwarding Issue

The DI-524 is a router.
Page 84 of the user manual gives an example of how to set it up, but it seems you have already tried that. Are you sure you entered all the settings ? The public port and the private port should be the same (16384) and you need to have your PC IP number into the private IP field.
Also did you choose the right protocol TCP or UDP ?

Re: Port Forwarding Issue

Its a D-Link DSL-3001

Ive set everything up correctly, have done everything multiple times, even tried DMV briefly.

We are able to connect remotely to computers here, but for whatever reason it shows as all ports being blocked...

Re: Port Forwarding Issue

I can't find anything about a D-Link DSL-3001, the D-Link site knows nothing about it.
