I am running 2 computers on my network. My wireless is using xp pro-sp2 and is wireless through a Belkin 54G thumb drive the other computer is using xp-home and is wired to the residential gateway which is a 2wire 520 wireless AT&T DSL connection both units access the Internet no problem. I finally got both units to see each other on the network. The wireless unit will look inside the wired unit but when I try ta access the wireless unit from the wired unit I get a window asking for a user and password which I cannot seem to get passed. What have I not yet managed to do?
When I do a ipconfig /all on my wireless unit I get this:Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. Re: wireless/wired communication problem
You can try a couple of things.
Configure the machines for Simple Sharing. Create a user account on the machine that you are connecting to that matches the name/password that is used to login to the connecting machine. Either of these should eliminate the password prompt.
