Internet in Australia, quite frankly, sucks. Not only are our broadband options limited but all the media companies seem to forget about us and deny us access to various services like selected YouTube Videos and US-Only content providers.
In America and to a lesser extent the UK, XBOX Live has a rather wide range of On-Demand video content and generally a larger selection of software. Here in Australia, we get some lovely 3 year old Robbie Williams video. That's about it. Making an American account isn't difficult, but once you try to download something it gives you a "Hay you're from one o' dem foreigners!" message. It does this, presumably, by only allowing US IP Addresses. There are plenty of SOCKS5 tunnels out there which from what I have found are usually used to get better pings in World of Warcraft as well as anonymizers, but those would probably be bogged down. These can be used to tunnel practically any TCP packet. If that's the case how difficult would it be to get my XBOX360 to use a SOCKS5 server? It doesn't have any native support, so I'm guessing I'll have to setup some kind of gateway on PC for the 360 to connect to, and then the PC sends that data through the SOCKS5 tunnel. Is there any Windows software that could do this? Would I have to set up a linux server if there isn't (I have a spare PC and some minimal linux experience)? |

Re: Xbox Live and proxy
I'm going to close this one. It's our policy not to assist in circumventing legal restrictions.
