Wireless Printing Help

Hey everyone,

Sorry if this has been answered all over the place, but I couldn't find a search function like in other forums. Anyway, here is my issue.

I just moved into a new apartment, and I want to be able to print wireless from my laptop. I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router, and I have wifi internet access, but no access to the actual hardline, as the internet is through my complex via several wireless access points in my building. I also have a desktop I want to be able to print, but it sits at the same desk, so if nothing else I can just hook it up via usb. From what I understand so far, here are the two main options that I have, since I dont have bluetooth enabled peripherals, other than the printer itself, which is an HP 6310 All-in-One OfficeJet.

I am pretty sure I can set up a printer sharing network without any more hardware, but that would mean that the desktop that is connected via (usb or ethernet? this is where I start to get confused), would have to be on in order for the laptop to print wireless.

The other option, I think, is a simple Wireless LAN, but that does not seem to be working based on what I have done already. I have plenty of ethernet cables, so if someone could run through how the physical network should be set up, and if I need to alter any settings, that would be awesome.

Hope someone can help, let me know if you need more information. Thanks
