For the past month I've there's been the most anoying high pitch whine from the back of my computer, only today did I find out that only when the ethernet cable for my Bt home hub is plugged in the sound appears- the more net activity I take on the more intense the whine/ringing/whistle is.
Now here's the wierd part, as soon as I double click any game application the ringing stops, even if I'm playing the game(s) online, I've resorted to opening a game then minimizing to stop the ringing when I'm doing casual stuff. I've no idea what the hell is wrong... Help anyone...? It's driving me crazy... My parents can't hear it because it's too high pitch. |

Re: Ethernet Port Whine
That has to be the weirdest problem i've ever seen! And when you load stuff it stops whining? If i read correctly. When i first read i assumed your ethernet port was whining while transfering data (even though thats odd in itself) but it even happens whilst actually playing online?? Are you using a PCI card or onboard?
edit: Doesn't happen when playing online??* edit2: Google yielded this Not incredibly informative, but theres talk of returning motherboards, could this solve it? would it be possible to send your motherboard back for a replacement?

Re: Ethernet Port Whine
Another thing worth noting - One of the guys on that page was also using an ASUS, as i said in Edit - would an RMA be possible?

Re: Ethernet Port Whine
Okay, maybe they can help if they commonly use that board it could be a common issue - It's worth a try, report back if you learn anything and/or solve the problem.

Re: Ethernet Port Whine
Something else to note; I was getting the 'Crack Display Issue' (the motherboard just cuts out while play videos in full screen, causing the display to distort then crash), but I fixed it with a BIOS revision, and had the guys who built it test it... now I'm presented with this problem...
Thanks for the replies I'll inform you what happens tomorrow. |
