EEK! is it possible ... ???

Is it possible to encrypt my Internet browser data? Any browser can be used for ease, like mozilla firefox, opera, internet explorer, etc. The data needs to be encrypted for both the uplink and the downlink.

The reason behind this exercise is that; I am on a network and the only way to access the internet is through the network server which is basically a proxy. The proxy servers are able to "see" all that we are doing on the internet, which is totally unacceptable. They can see me accessing and reading my emails even ...

Is it possible to somehow encapsulate the data outbound from my browser and the sebsequent data that arrives in reply from the external website somehow also be encrypted?

Can I use some local web server software like APACHE on my pc to run a local proxy to encrypt my data somehow ??? like apache or xampp ??? or am I on the wrong track ???

Any quick guidance (reference to some other site, etc) or help in this regard would greatly welcomed !!!
Thanks !!!
