I want to erase everything except XP to see if that wroks but I do not have the recovery disk. Plus when I go in to Safe mode a whole bunch of letters go all over my screen and site there for about 3 miniutes(I just turn it off) and nothing happens. Please help!!!!

Re: Cant get internet

Is it connected via ethernet or usb? Doe another computer work with it? check that you havent been using a static ip and dns server address as you may have been using a different router back then. Try going start/control panel/network connections right click on local area network go down to internet proticol (TCP/IP) and click properties and make sure both obtain ip address automatically and obtain dns server address automatically are checked and press ok. if that doenst change any thing and you are using ethernet righclick on the icon in the task bar of the two computers and choose repair.

Im using Ethernet. And I connect through a router with it for my playstation. I can connect to this computer or my router with out having to mess around with any settings when I connect directly. So dont worry about the router, Im not using it.

Re: [SOLVED] Cant get internet

Follow the instructions i posted before also if your modem has a quick setup function in the web interface, use that to reset all of your modem settings
