OS: Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP1

Question OSX Server or Windows-based Server?

Our association currently uses a Mac OS X server. It's primarily used for running backups (using Retrospect) and as our shared drive. However, the entire staff uses Windows OS's (both Vista and XP) on their computers. While all the computers have access to the server, the Vista machines don't get backed up due to Retrospect's incompatibility with Vista.

Besides, the benefit of being able to backup the Vista PCs (as we MAY move everyone towards Vista), are there any other benefits that stem from the OSX to Windows server switch? Cons? What Windows server OS would you recommend?

Thanks!

Re: OSX Server or Windows-based Server?

SERVER OS. BUSINESS 2003/07/08 if its out
We had mac osx servers, 1 was mail and 1 was our file share.
We added windows 2k3 + exchange + AD.
used that for domain, accessing other users shared folders easily, adding hardware that mac didnt support.
I prefer the windows + mac setup as we found our server crashed 3 times...macs have been on..ooooh well over 2 years now and havent rebooted once..obviously scheduled in, but only when software gets changed!

can i ask why moving to vista? XP pro requires less resources..less space..less networking issues
