Re: Dell shuts down when idle

Hi, adjust the Power Options in Control Panel. For example, choose the Home Office/ Desk power scheme from the drop-down list, click on Apply and OK and restart.

If you've already done that, open Administrative Tools in Control Panel and navigate to Computer Management> System Tools> Event Viewer> System
In the right-pane, double-click on the event that occured at the same time as your pc last shut itself down. It will give you details of why or what application caused the shut-down.

Re: Dell shuts down when idle

Our server is 2003 and our workstations all run XP Pro. Now that i have gone back and looked there are actually to codes, Event ID 5719- No Domain Controller available for (domain) RPC server unavailable. and Event ID 8009 Browser was unable to promote itself to master, The computer that believes it is master is (server)
