intermittent internet connection

My internet connection has been stable since I moved here in March. However, since Friday, I have been having an intermittent internet connection. It started by kicking me off the internet every 15 minutes. Now it is ongoing every minute or so. It is driving me nuts!

The things that I have tried that have not resulted in any change:
* unplugging the modem and waiting for half an hour to an hour
* using a different cable to link the computer to the modem
* spent 2 hours on the phone to Time Warner Cable who were adamant that there were no issues at their end
* scanned my machine with Norton 360 and Panda. Neither of them have revealed any spyware or malware
* resetting the TCP/IP stack and WINSOCK to installation defaults
* checking processes in Task Manager against those at www.processlibrary.com

So, HELP PLEASE! The following tests were done while the internet connection was down.

IMO, the ISP is lying to you.

Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.

My home computer is now telling me that my LAN is disconnected. This is despite there being a direct cable pluuged from the computer into the modem. The modem is powered on and shows a flashing activity light. I cannot access the internet through my LAN at all. So, unfortunately, I cannot run a line quality test report becuase I do not have access to my line!

I restored the factory settings on my home laptop, to see whether that would help. I remember that I could connect to the internet without any issues when I first purchased the laptop. Well, this hasn't helped.

I can, however, connect to the internet through an unsecured wireless connection in my building.

Since I can connect wirelessly, can I assume that there are no issues with the hardware too?

So, would the next step be to contact Time Warner again? What information do I need to provide them to prove that there is an issue that should be investigated?

Actually, the wireless and wired hardware are totally separate, so that's not saying that the hardware is not bad, only that the wireless hardware works.

Try powering down the modem and computer.
Make sure the cable is properly connected between the computer and the modem.
Power up the modem, wait for a steady data light.
Power on the computer and boot into Windows.
Post another IPCONFIG /ALL here.

Powered down laptop and modem; all properly connected (including at the wall); rebooted.

The activity light is flashing on the modem. My computer is telling me that is connected to a Local Area Connection only. I cannot access the internet at all.
