Cannot connect through applications to the Internet

Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2

Problem: Cannot connect to internet through application updates or any games.

Description: I can browse the internet fine through Mozilla Firefox. I can also use MSN Messenger fine with no problems. When I diagnose the Internet Problems using Internet Explorer, it says I cannot connect to HTTP, SSL or FTP. I have checked with my other computer if the router was the problem, and it isn't, as everything works fine on my other computer. When I try updating through programs like Spyware Doctor, it says "Cannot connect to update server", and all my games arent working as they cannot connect to the servers either. I've tried clearing everything including renewing and clearing the dns cache, I've changed my wireless card and no luck there too. Any support is appreciated. Thank you.
