Bandwidth limit on WIFI

Hi, I need a little help. My younger brother is eating up my bandwidth by loading gameserver lists for GTA:SA PC version. and its killing my internet everytime he loads the list. everything on my network stops for like 5 seconds because of the big list it loads on his computer. so if there anyway i can limit the bandwidth on his computer? hes running off of WIFI.

Re: Bandwidth limit on WIFI

Not unless you get a QoS router or some sort of proxy setup. GTA SA probably has a buggy net code when it comes down to it. (probably because the community wrote the multiplayer part of the game and not rockstar lol)

Get your bro to try something else to setup his GTA SA net games like Gamespy or something. Not sure Gamespy supports it though but there could be other software like Gamespy that does.

he wouldnt want to stop playing the game. i just need some time of program or something that can limit his connection to like 500KB down and 100KB up. and it needs to be hidden in the background so he dosnt know im limiting his connection.

There should be some way i can localy limit his connection from TCP and UDP.

Re: Bandwidth limit on WIFI

There's no software that I know of that does this. As I said, in your situation you need either a proxy or QoS router. Either case you need new hardware.

I did not suggest that your bro stop playing the game. What gamespy does is search for servers for the games you have installed, provided gamespy supports them. Your brother could use this instead of the in built GTA one which may be buggy.
