Router MAC issues

Hello there friendly helpful people.

I've been using the DIR-301 to spread Wireless throughout my house for some time now. I recently had a new person come to live with me, and thought they'd like net access. I tried to get their computer to connect, and after a number of unsuccessful attempts, I logged in to the router menu and decided that a MAC Filter must be the solution to all my woes. Little did I realise that by putting this filter on, I would then proceed to lock out all the computers who connect to my network.

I have since connected my pc directly to my modem and reinstalled my broadband lark so I can connect, but this doesn't solve the issue of my router essentially locking everything out whenever I connect that. What I'd like to know is how to get the bloody MAC Filter off my router so my household can return to it's original utopian state of easy net access anywhere in the house. If you can tell me how to do this in steps so simple I could get a monkey to do it, it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Gregg

Re: Router MAC issues

There should be a little button on the back of the router labelled 'reset' or something similar. Just poke it in and hold for 10 seconds with a pen or something and the router will reset to it's original factory settings.

Re: Router MAC issues

Np Gregg! I know its unsecure but that's where hard security comes in like locked and restricting physical access etc. Also these routers are SOHO and aren't meant for big business use. Come back anytime if ya have anymore questions

Re: Router MAC issues

Physical access to a system will almost always compromise all but the very best security measures.

Yeah unless you had a physical firewall surrounding your equipment, in which case I don't think you would have a building left surrounding the equipment.
