Other network computers have internet - why don't I??
Hey
For about a year I have been connected to a home network consisting of two PCs and a laptop, using a router and a modem. Up till now all has worked well but the laptop now won't connect to the internet. It still connects to the network however and both PCs have internet. The problem seemed to start when I upgraded iTunes to the latest version, so I uninstalled iTunes and the internet came back on, but reinstalled it and the connection failed. Now I've uninstalled it again and the internet won't work. Any help gratefully recieved, thanks in advance, Ollie |

Re: Other network computers have internet - why don't I??
TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows Vista.
Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt. In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands: Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log Reboot the machine.

Re: Other network computers have internet - why don't I??
Thanks for getting back so quickly, but unfortunately this hasn't worked. Do you know how to completely wipe the computer so its back to factory settings becasue this is the only thing I can think of to try and solve it?
Thanks again |

Re: Other network computers have internet - why don't I??
That would depend on the computer. If this is a "brand name" machine that's reasonably new, they normally come with a recovery partition and software to restore them to the factory configuration.
