My Netgear WNR834M Router keeps disconnecting me from the internet.
I have Insight Broadband and the modem & internet connection seems to be fine. I keep having to power the NetGear Router off, wait a couple of minutes and power it back on way to excessively. It may stay connected for 10 or 20 minutes, it may stay connected for an hour, who knows. I have been having to do this sometimes as much a 20 or 30 times a day and cannot figure out how to fix this. NetGear tech support is not that great and even if they were, can barely understand a word they say anyway. Hope someone can help me out because it is frustrating and I really need my internet connection to be reliable for work I am doing at home. Thanks! CrazyKip |

Re: Netgear WNR834M router must be powered off/on excessively disconnects internet Br
Did tech support advise you to upgrade the firmware? If not the go to their website and see if there is a new update for your router.
If it's a cable modem you have, then try plugging the modem directly into the computer, power cycle the modem for 30 secs and switch back on. See if you still experience disconnects then. IMPORTANT! When you connect the modem to another device then always power cycle for 30 seconds so that it will work. So after trying the above suggestion, please power cycle again when reconnecting to the router!
