Not sure if this is the right forum for this questions, but here i go:
I have several laptops that I can connect to my sgb900 wireless, but my work laptop cannot. I use wpa-psk/tpik and do not broadcast the SSID. The laptop in question is setup correctly to see and connect to my wireless network. It does see the network and sits there stuck on "Acquiring network address" but never gets an IP. The laptop has an encrypted harddrive if that matters. I can connect the laptop to my wireless if I turn off security/encryption, but not with wep or wpa set. The wireless nic is the intelPRO 3945ABG and has the latest available drivers. I have reinstalled the drivers, triple checked all settings, rebooted the wireless router, etc. Any help here is really appreciated. |

Re: Wireless connection problem
If you're using WPA, don't make things more difficult for yourself by disabling SSID broadcasts.

I figured out the problem. I had my wireless router set to broadcast only in 11g enhanced mode. I changed it to 11b/g mode and re-added the connection on the laptop not working and it connected in 11G mode. Hope this helps other people. Regards, Ltldogg |

Re: Wireless connection problem
Actually, disabling SSID is a "feel-good" measure that does virtually nothing for your security. The only real security is WPA encryption with a strong key. Any other measures are just kidding yourself.
